Early summer weekend
at lake Balaton
While the participant cars were gathering under the early morning
sunshine, we had just enough time to check up on the result of
restorations.
One of the more visible results was accountable on the
car of our club president that was totally rebirth under the hand of
capable professionals. The tin box of Z32 bear the mark of two unprofessional
attempts of pearl white coatings previously, with the final results of
haddock. That was very shame of the owner for a whole year long in 2006.
During the two month preparation all coats and patties were removed and
the under layers recreated for taking the touch of pearl white top coats.
All that work was finally crowned by a 99' type factory nose replacement.
The optimistic atmosphere ended up quickly when we received the bad news
of our friend, who broke down his Sylvia Turbo - that was the other great
expectation - near the city centre, when he lost one of the turbo tubes
that could not be replaced on the fly.
Our convoy than lost one car and couple of good friends - temporarily - but
also gathered two more on the way to our destination. We really enjoyed
the 2.5 hours drive - at most of the targa tops off - under the blue sky
and ...the touch of pleasing breeze.
As soon as we reached our hotel - that was a modified First World War
military recreation cottage - and checked into our rooms, the hunger and
the thirst made its first attempt on our digestion systems. The waiters
set the tables in the garden quickly and filled up with cold frothy beer
mugs and huge portions of sweet delicacies.
Most of our company decided to grab the towels and other accessories after
the lunch and walked down to the beach for some rest on the green grass
and for an occasional refreshening dive into the medium cold water.
The time has come late afternoon when our wine tour-leader expected us
to take up to the hillside wine grooving area where we supposed to exercise
our first tasting action.
The sun was still up and our "heater gouges" gone up above the red line
when we reached the host wine cellar.
Our cheer was quickly high up also as soon as we started lifting glasses
filled with medium quality wines.
The next test followed the first, when we had to walk 45 minutes on some
pioneer paths along the hillside, with the adjournments of deep descents,
until we reached our final destination at the "Wine Brothers" restaurant.
The reserved room of the cellar restaurant filled with happiness and noisy
laughter as we sat down near the set tables for the next probe.
By the professional introduction of our tour leader, eight more - higher
qualities than before ...as far as I could remember - make of local wine
were served before we reached (whoever) the final climax, when the
waiters began to bring some more solid materials on plates.
As soon as the challenges of the night were slept out, the headache pills
taken, the breakfast consumed our company was ready to roll for the
further actions.
After the farewell of two cars and their crew, rest of the group drove
to castle Szigliget, where some climb was also involved to reach the remains
on the mountain peek.
Have a look down from the top made it up for the fatigues of climb, since
the scenery front of our eyes unfolded a different window onto the natural
beauties of lake Balaton and the hillside Badacsony, that we never
experienced before.
The beach and the fresh cold lake welcomed again at the end of our journey,
where we spent the rest of the afternoon, before driving back to our
home towns.
