Zeds climbing
above the clouds
It was so at our latest weekend event too, when we were visiting couple of amazing
cellars at one of the best Hungarian winegrowing areas in Szekszard.
After an easy 150kms drive on considerably good quality country roads, we were approaching
our accommodation called "Sió Apartment Houses", where we had well equipped and recently
refurbished air-conditioned rooms booked for the night.
The weather was nice and hot, nearly 35 degrees, so we decided to start with couple of
pearly cold beers, just for cooling down our heating systems.
For neutralizing the increasing internal turbo pressure in out heads, we quickly continued
with some hearty (just for health) food ingestions too.
The foreplay, above contributed to our readiness for the next move, that was a wine testing
action in a nearby cellar.
Our first host, Mr Esterbauer, head of the wine maker family was waiting anxiously, since
he was also expected gets-master of a local vine festival. Hence our wine testing had to
be dashed up little bit. In spite of the nuts and chesses offered on number of plateaus,
the served wines made adequate effect on our balancing system. This effect was well indeed
intensified under the 35 degrees sky, as we walked back to our accommodations.
We had however not much of rest before the next action, -just for a mug of "mineral-wine"
(getting through to the next phase)- since our ride is rolled in for taking us the evening
venue.
Great wonder of Fritz gests-house restaurant and cellar was not offering only their gourmet
selection of Hungarian cousins on Goliath sized portions today, but also was hosting a
country wedding binge too. We were partying and dancing during the night amongst the wedding
gests who were very nice and friendly people.
Before our night long giddy experiences however, we were shown one of the great wonders of
the estate, the doomed cellar centre and the castle sized cellar concourse. While I was
wondering and embreathing the clean crisp air under the candle illuminated archways, along
the 20 meters long wooden table, I could easily imagine the picture of King Arthur and his
hundred guest's bacchanal.
I still find difficult to visualize it without a cold sweat that comes over me.
After our underworld excursion we were coming up and continued enjoying palatial pleasures
of the evening.
Our weekend excitements were still not concluded, since a surprise program were organised
for the Sunday morning. One of our fellow members invited us for test flights on a light
weight two seater.
Take offs and landings repeated sixteen times till all adventurous Z members climbed above
the clouds for some celestial experience.
During the last flight we formed the Z letter by cars and the X by the drivers, for making
pictured documentation of this unforgettable club event.
