• At the begining
There are many more ZXs than Zs, younger cars, bought by a more affluent populace but in total, we
estimate here that there are no more than 3000 cars including the new 350Z !
La France fondly remembers the 240Z from the Monte Carlo rally and the association of Jean Todt.
• The Organisation and the activities
We are a small club, around 30 paid up members, predominantly in the West, the South and in the Alps.
We have a new and second-hand parts finding service and are currently trying to negotiate a club
insurance scheme whereby members would benefit from reductions and special services eg breakdown
cover. Free technical advice is available, in fact that is all necessary to get a restoration project
back onto the road and keep it there!
There are several current restorations and a handful of members are in the process of constructing
cars solely with the intention of entering into National and International competitions.
• Events and information platforms
We held our first meeting in April 2001, attracting over 20 people and 9 cars from as far away as
Great Britain and Holland. Since then, each year we have held at least one club weekend with the
aim of promoting better inter-club (and Z clubs) contact. These weekends together with occasional
circuit days, the AGMs, the Le Mans 24 Hrs race and numerous invitations from foreign Z clubs provides
us with a busy calendar throughout the year.
We began by offering members a colour newsletter every quarter but as costs spiralled and we didn't want
to raise the membership fee too high, still at 25 euros per year. So, we changed our format and each
quarter there is a B and W text journal, listing future events, items for sale and wanted and general
features plus reports of outings! Each Christmas, we publish a colour supplement featuring one of the
club cars and associated stories/ideas with that model.
Our club welcomes any and all Z/ZX enthusiasts and especially promotes family outings, just men with
their bonnets up, talking pistons is tolerated, family socialising and driving the cars is preferred!
Club Zen, for the cars, for the people but above all for the fun !
