You can still hear the collective screams of disgust from the RB26DETT diehards from the Moon.
Not only did Nissan forego the beloved stright six legend, togeather with it's smaller SR four-banged
brother, and installed the vee six into performance Zed and Syline production car platforms, but VQ
family of engines is now "the heart" pumping blood tgrough most of Nissan's motor sport efforts globally.
Nismo are claiming high combustion efficiency plus good power and torque for VQ's weight and packaging
as its supreme suitability as choice for racing. Nismo president Kenichi Sasaki says his company designed
number of different kinds if pistons, con rods and other components for different levels of output and
prepared a menu of options.
VQ engines currently pover Nissan's South African Off Road (250kW VQ53DE). Word Series open-wheelers
335kW VQ35DE) and privateer La Mancs recers (VQ34) and of course, the two version used in JGTC a 225kW
VQ35DE for GT300-class Zeds and a 360kW twin-turbo VQ30DETT.
