• Austrian Scenic gun ball run decided ...
Fist time in 2003, we only drove to the Austrian venue and back within two days,
than decided to extend our tour from the following years, have some
"Scenic Gun Ball Run" called "ZedNutsRun" and include stopovers at
interesting destinations.
Based on the idea we selected top of the Alps for our year 2006 destination,
called pick Grosglockner at the heights of 3500m.
With an Austrian round drive of 16 hours we took our way down to the Italian
border, than up to the mountain pick, than across the mountain and down to the
other side up to our final destination near Attersee.
It was little bit tiresome...therefore we decided for extending the tour by one
more day again.
End of July therefore ZedNatsRun2007 - for visiting the fairytale
castle Neuschwanstein - began on early Thursday morning.
• ZedNatsRun 2008..
Seven cars met on the meeting point outside Budapest at 6 am, where we
greeted each other, clarified the driving plan, than pocketed the action
T shirts, designed for this special occasion. After the
short preparation we took our way to the Hungarian-Austrian border, where
the convoy extended by one more car.
The 8 cars than pushed down toward to the Italian border than passed the
Southern Austrian See country up untill entered into the Carianthian Alps.
Eating up approximatelly 540 kilometres till the first destination at Gründ.
Where our intention was to visit a privately set and maintained
Porsche Car Museum that covers Porsche cars from the very first to the
latest sports models, nearly 30 vehicles are on display in the museum.
• Litte bit of Porsche History..
During the war Ferdinand 'Ferry' Porsche and a handful of his proven, faithful
employees had started work on development number 356 in
their - converted sawmill - workshops moved to the town of Gmünd in Kärnten
(hence its name) from 1944-50.
The first design drawings were completed on 17 July 1947 and on 8 June 1948
the Kärnten state government issued a special permit homologating the car.
The very first Porsche sport car called - Gmünd Coupe - was hand built in
Porsche's first 'factory'. The entire aluminum body was hand beaten over a
wooden buck. Without the benefits of a machine shop, all of the engine and
drive-train components were made completely. Over 50 Gmünd cars were built
and sold primarily in Austria and Germany.
• Place of the palatial enjoyments..
The final destinatio of the tour was not so long drive away from Gmünd. It was
located in the Carinthian Nockberge Mountains. The town called Bad Kleinkirchheim
is a well known and recognised top-class alpine wellness resort of today.
Crystal clear morning welcomed our guys, after the first alpine night. After
the deepened hearty breakfast and some short walk under the shadows of the "piping"
mountains, all of us were ready for the next couple of days excitements.
Insteed of following the instructions of the GPS navigation systems, (still missed the
right path in couple of times) we decided next to the good old paper navigation
system and followed the road signs to reach our second day destinations in the
Nationalpark Nockberege.
The Carinthian Nockbergs are a part of the Gurktal Alps and count among the most
interesting of Europe's low mountain ranges. The gentle, rounded hilltops form
a unique part of the landscape.
The 184.3 km2 National Park stretches between the Lieser Valley in the west, in
an imaginary line from Eisentratten, to Bad Kleinkirchheim in the south, to
Innerkrems in the north and the community of Ebene Reichenau to the east.
The daily excurtions were of course continued by other important traditional activities
in the wellness and culinary centers ..
Full of excitements and good memories, how we remember to these four days.
Thanks for creator who made the natural beauties around us
and thanks to Nissan who installed those four wheels beneath our tin boxes to be able
to experience those outstanding driving pleasures,
(S.SZ.)
