Godzilla Is Coming soon - 2008 Nissan GT-R

It's the most exciting car Japan has ever produced. Sorry Supra, too bad NSX, but there's nothing quite like the Skyline GT-R. A technological tour de force, the GT-R has always been the dream of the fast car enthusiast generations. Born from a long line of Skyline GT-Rs dating back to 1969, this latest version - "R36" to the hard-core - promises to pack more turbocharged power, more all-wheel-drive technology and more sheer speed than any Japanese car ever come to live.

Twelve months of QASHQAI

Half of all Qashqai's have been specified with the 1.5dCi diesel engine, with the 1.6-litre petrol engine as the next favoured choice with 22 per cent, closely followed by the 2.0-litre diesel at 20 per cent. And the mix of Qashqais equipped with the ALL MODE 4x4 system is 25 per cent.

Two-thirds of Qashqai's ordered are in Acenta grade, the middle specification level, while the most popular options are the panoramic glass roof and 17" wheels. Metallic black has proved to be the most popular colour, with 31 per cent of orders, followed by silver (26%) and faded denim (16%).

Nissan's early customer research in Europe has highlighted some interesting trends. Simply speaking, Qashqai is bought by younger people than the C-segment average, and by more women. The typical buyer fall into the 36-45 year bracket.
Initial customer feedback shows that buyers like the Qashqai for bringing something new to the market; for its strong, distinctive design which sits between a traditional hatchback style and a more robust, elevated SUV shape.

Qashqai buyers have consistently cited the premium quality interior and overall design as key factors in changing brands to Nissan.

Ricksaw vr Nissan Teana Luxus Sedan ...

New Delhi (April 19, 2007) - Nissan Motor India Private Limited today announced the launch of its luxury sedan, the Teana, in India. Teana is the second model to be launched in India following the launch of the X-TRAIL SUV in 2004 and marks the next step in Nissan's expansion into this fast growing market. In March of this year, Nissan announced its intention to set up a manufacturing facility in Chennai together with Alliance partner Renault and local manufacturer, Mahindra.

Since number of medium tin box re-releases fallowed each other without special characters in Europe recently, Nissan India intent to catch the buying power of Indian "higher caste" by releasing of Teana Luxury Sedan. Marketing professionals focus even more on the ever growing demand of local "aristocracy" in the developing countries. India is no exemption, where the big money earners want to travel under the safe-haven of air-conditioned four wheeled tin boxes, rather than open "one manpowered" rickshaw coupes. At the same time when millions of locals still have nothing else to dream about ..olny the next life, where the biggest dream would not only be satisfied from the bicycle shops...:-(

By the way ...the marketing professionals and strategist must have strong view about the future, where Nissan Luxury Sedans would overflow the small "how to call" local tin boxes, ...pushing aside the rickshaws, bicycles, holly-cows and wobblers from the crowded streets of Bombay ... Not to mention the roads and associated infrastructures, that was built to handle the local "fast moving" machineries.... Good luck to India and good luck to Nissan...(editor)

Nissan Z takes 3rd place finish

In sunny and hot conditions with the mercury at over 30 degrees Celsius, more than 35,000 spectators gathered at Suzuka Circuit for the eponymous event.

At 1:00pm, the pole-sitting YellowHat YMS Moba HO! TOMICA Z (#3), with drivers Sebastian Philippe and Masataka Yanagida, led the formation of cars as they crossed the line signaling the start of the race. Starting driver Philippe maintained his position at the front until lap 7, but with soft tires on the car, was forced to give way to one of his pursuers.
Once back out on track, the machine ran between 4th and 6th position. Later in the afternoon the car dropped to 10th due to a sudden rain shower, eventually recovering to 6th.
Meanwhile Motoyama was the starter from 13th place in the #23 Z. The car made light contact with the #35 SC430 on the opening lap and was pushed back to the rear of the GT500 class.
With their tires not matching track conditions, the car suffered as it worked hard to recover its loss. On lap 16 the machine came in to the pits, switching over to Richard Lyons. Lyons then lifted the pace, reaching 10th position by lap 27.
The early pit stop worked well here, and on lap 36 - when all his rivals had finished their first pit stops, the car was running in the top position.

The other lead cars were scheduled for 4 pit visits while the Z cars needed 5 stops. Motoyama took over for the middle section of the race, keeping things steady and making sure he wasn't left far behind.
Later on, when a sudden rain shower hit the field and the other teams were too occupied to change tires, the #23 Z was lucky enough to pit. The team handled the situation brilliantly, and the car reached 3rd place on lap 138 when the rain was in full force.
Lyons took care of the driving in the last stint, maintaining the position to the flag.

Nissan "Hydrovan" ....

The floating appearance of this astounding concept within the intimately lighted background might suggest at the first look that we should expect the debut of Nissan's first "HYDROVAN". (Editor)

Called NV200 and due to be given its worldwide debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, (where we also expect the ne GT-R too) the concept turns conventional light commercial design inside out ... literally.

Its most striking feature is a storage pod which extends from the van's load area when the vehicle is parked. As the pod is deployed, the now empty load bay is transformed into a mobile office.

The NV200 was jointly developed by Nissan Design Center in Japan and NDE, located in Paddington, London. By having no pre-conceived ideas about what form NV200 should take, the team has developed a radical, futuristic, but entirely practical new concept.

Podium finish for Kondo and Calsonic Impul Z, bad luck for factory Z teams

The car that suffered the heaviest burden was the XANAVI NISMO Z (#23), with drivers Satoshi Motoyama and Richard Lyons. Carrying 60kg of success ballast, the car started the race 8th. Lyons had to return to the pits early on with unexpectedly damaged tires.
The car then struggled further when Motoyama took over. Running a two-stop strategy, Lyons took the car again for the final stint, but was never able to bring it up the order and they finished the race in 14th.

Meanwhile, the MOTUL AUTECH Z (#22) with Michael Krumm and Tsugio Matsuda started from 10th. With Krumm driving as fast as he could, picking off rivals as he went, the car ran as high as 3rd.
After Matsuda took over however, the #22 Z developed a problem with the tires not matching track conditions. A tire blew on lap 44 and Matsuda quickly returned to the pits. This caused the car to lose a number of positions and it finished in 10th place.

Nissan VQ Engine Receives Wards 10 Best Engines Award

The new, fourth generation VQ series, 24-valve 3.5-liter DOHC V6 powerplant, which is built at Nissan manufacturing facilities in Iwaki, Japan, and Decherd, Tenn, is offered in a variety of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the United States. These vehicles include the Nissan Altima, Maxima, Murano, Quest, and 350Z, in addition to the Infiniti G35 Sedan and Coupe, FX35 and M35. Ward's award was based on the new 3.5-liter VQHR engine in the all-new 2007 Infiniti G35 with a six-speed manual transmission.
As equipped in the Infiniti G35 sedan, the fourth-generation VQ-series V6 has been significantly rethought, with approximately 80% of major parts (except bolts, O-rings and clips) redesigned.

The block features ladder frame construction for greater rigidity and crank journal and pin diameters have been increased. The block height has been increased by 8.4 millimeters to reduce piston side force and the engine center is now 15 millimeters lower, which also contributes to the G's improved dynamic performance.

The G sedan's engine now has 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque (a significant power improvement from the previous generation VQ), an exciting engine sound and improvements in emissions and fuel economy.

Voting for the best engines was a team of ten editors and writers for Ward's AutoWorld magazine and Ward's Engine & Vehicle Technology Update newsletter.

The Award was presented on January 9, 2007 at the Renaissance Center Marriott during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Carlos Ghosn Honorary KBE

Renault/Nissan president and CEO Carlos Ghosn is to be rewarded for his services to the motor industry, and particularly the industry in Britain, by being appointed an Honorary Knight Commander of the British Empire. The honour, which enables Ghosn to carry the initials KBE after his name but not the title Sir, is more in recognition of his work with Renault's sister brand Nissan, which has construction plants in the UK. Nissan's European design centre is located in London and its technical centre in Cranfield, Bedfordshire. The company's factory in Sunderland is the biggest producer of cars in the UK and will celebrate its 21st anniversary next year.
A statement issued in late October by the British Embassy in Tokyo confirmed that the honour was being bestowed in recognition of Ghosn's "distinguished contribution to relations between the UK and Japan". It will be presented in early 2007 during a ceremony at the British Embassy. Ghosn, however, insisted that the KBE was in recognition of those working under him. "This honour is dedicated to the hard work and achievements of our 5500 employees and 220 dealers that support the Nissan business in the UK," he said, "The ties between Nissan and the UK are deep and stretch back over 50 years. I am deeply honoured by this recognition from the United Kingdom." -said by Carlos Ghosn

Nissan to Formula one?????....

New speculation suggests that the Nissan brand might unite with the world of formula one racing in the near future. Also reporting a link between the Japanese carmaker and former team owner Alain Prost, French newspaper 'Le Journal du Dimanche' said Nissan could join the grand prix grid in 2008. Prost, also a former four time world champion, has reportedly already spoken with Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn about the project, after his own team was liquidated in 2001.
Nissan's corporate vice-president Simon Sproule is quoted by the newspaper as admitting that F1 is 'an option'. "Right now we are involved in regional championships in Japan, the US and in Africa. We have studied the possibility to invest in a worldwide competition," he added. Sproule said Nissan personnel have attended several grands prix to 'observe, learn and understand the discipline's finer details'. Rumours earlier this year indicated that Renault were considering simply changing the name of its formula one team to Nissan.
